Informed
Privacy Policy
Effective 4 November 2026
The short version: Informed collects no data.
Informed has no server, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting. The developer never receives what you subscribe to, what you read or anything else about you. Your data stays on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud database.
Who we are
Informed is an RSS and news reader for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and CarPlay, developed by Adriaanse (adriaanse.cloud). This policy covers the Informed app on all of these devices and this website.
Data we collect
None. We do not collect, store, sell or share personal data, and we have no server that could receive it. In the App Store the app is labelled Data Not Collected. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
Where your data lives
On your devices
Your feeds and folders, the articles and images that are downloaded, what you have read, starred and tagged, your settings, your reading statistics and reading speed are stored in the app's own storage on your device. Some things never leave the device on which they were created: sign-ins to publishers and the cookie choices you make on their sites, your reading-speed history, per-device AI usage counts and the image cache.
In your private iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, Informed syncs your library between your devices using Apple's CloudKit, in the private database of your own Apple Account. This includes your feeds and folders, article details and the extracted article text, read and star state, tags, settings, statistics and your latest Briefing. Only your devices signed in to your Apple Account can read this data; the developer cannot. Apple stores it under the Apple Privacy Policy. You can turn sync off in Settings › iCloud Sync.
In your iCloud Keychain
API keys you enter for AI or voice services are stored in your iCloud Keychain, which Apple encrypts end to end, so they are available on your other devices. They are never included in exports or sent anywhere other than to the service they belong to.
Services Informed connects to
Informed talks directly from your device to the following parties, and only to do what you asked. No identifier of ours is sent along.
- Publishers you subscribe to. Feeds, article pages and images are loaded straight from the publisher's website, like a browser would. Like any website, a publisher can see your IP address and that its content was requested. Informed sends no cookies to publishers, except: cookie choices you make yourself on a publisher's own consent page, and the sign-in of a subscription you pay for if you sign in in the app. These are stored only on that device and sent only to that publisher.
- Feedly's public search, only when you search for a new feed by name: the search term is sent to Feedly. Adding a feed by its web address does not use Feedly.
- AI providers, only if you choose one. By default all AI features (merging duplicate articles, the Briefing, AI Summary, fact checking and AI feed filters) run on your device with Apple Intelligence, and nothing leaves the device. If you assign a cloud provider in Settings › AI Features, such as Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), Microsoft Azure or an endpoint of your own such as Ollama, the article texts and headlines needed for that feature are sent directly from your device to that provider with your own key. That provider's privacy policy and terms apply.
- Voice providers, only if you choose one. Apple voices and the optional neural voice run on your device. If you set up ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Azure or Google Cloud Text-to-Speech with your own key, the text being read aloud is sent to that provider.
- Hugging Face, only if you download the optional on-device neural voice: an ordinary file download.
- Apple, for iCloud, the App Store, notifications and system services, under Apple's own privacy policy.
Permissions
- Notifications (optional): only a local notification on your device when your morning Briefing is ready.
- Local network (optional): only if you connect an AI server on your own network, such as Ollama.
Informed does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Apple Watch and CarPlay
The Apple Watch app fetches your feeds itself and syncs through the same private iCloud database. It may use AI keys from your iCloud Keychain to write a Briefing if you set up a cloud provider. CarPlay shows and plays what is already on your iPhone. Neither sends data to the developer.
Your control and your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to look up, correct or delete. You are in full control in the app:
- Export My Data (Settings › About › Privacy) gives you all your data as JSON and your subscriptions as OPML.
- Delete All Data removes everything from the device, your iCloud records, the keys in your Keychain, publisher sign-ins and cookie choices, and caches.
- Turn off iCloud sync, sign out of a publisher, withdraw a cookie choice, or remove an AI or voice key at any time.
- Deleting the app removes its data from that device. Data in iCloud can also be removed in your device's iCloud settings.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you have rights under the GDPR; since the developer processes no personal data, these are exercised through the controls above and, for data held by Apple or a provider you chose, with that company.
Children
Informed collects no data from anyone, including children.
This website
informed.adriaanse.cloud uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. Your language and theme choice are kept only in your own browser's local storage. The web server processes your IP address to deliver the pages, as every web server does, and does not use it for anything else.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date. A change that would let the developer collect data would be stated clearly in the app before it takes effect.

Informed
Privacybeleid
Geldig vanaf 4 november 2026
Welke gegevens we verzamelen
Diensten waarmee Informed verbinding maakt
